Tree ring dating or Dendrochronology is the method of dating based on the study of tree rings, also known as growth rings. This method can date time at which the trees are formed, in most of the time to the exact calendar year.
Dendrochronology is primarily used in three areas: in building history by dating the wooden structures used, in art history by dating panel paintings and in climatology. In different years, trees will produce rings with different properties depending on weather, rain temperature, soil ph, plant nutrition, CO2 concentration etc.. these variation are used to find the past climate variations.
